Brief: Celebrate SYFY’s fan-first mission by having actor (and self-proclaimed geek!) Orlando Jones officiate marriages on Facebook Live on Valentine’s Day.
Execution: The Geek Love Chapel launched as an experiential activation at SDCC ‘17. Based on its success I lead a team that recreated the experience at scale, streaming 8 wedding & vow renewal ceremonies on Facebook Live during Valentine’s Day. To source the couples that participated, we geo-targeted assets on Facebook and Twitter, with further amplification through Orlando Jones’ accounts. The livestream included an interactive element, airing interstitial “commercial breaks” that highlighted love stories from the SYFY community as well as posed questions that fans answered in real time. From end to end we made sure everything laddered up to the brand’s tagline: It’s A Fan Thing.
